SunDragon Scroll

Presented by His Excellency Baron Gefroi of the Barony of SunDragon, Kingdom of Atenveldt, to the populace of Phoenix Glade.

For those that were not at Daggers and Hemlock this year, Baron Gefroi, the original Autocrat of the First Daggers and Hemlock, came to visit from his current home in Atenveldt.

The inscription reads as follows:

On behalf of Their Royal Majesties of the Solar Kingdom of Atenveldt, We Jacquelin and Gefroi, Baroness and Baron of Sundragon offer warm greetings to the Shire of Phoenix Glade and the Kingdom of Meridies.  The Barony of SunDragon values service and chivalry above all things.  The Shire of Phoenix Glade has since its founding been a beacon of those values and has always been welcoming and encouraging of newcomers and visitors.  As former members of Phoenix Glade we have been well pleased with the accomplishments of the Phoenix Glade populace and of their warm reception of all who visit their lands.  As such we hear by recognize Phoenix Glade as Our honorary adopted Shire and declare all of its populace under Our protection should they visit our great Kingdom.  We further declare that all members of Phoenix Glade are welcome by Our fire and will be afforded all considerations as Our honored guests in the event they visit Our Lands.

Done by Our Hands this 12th day of August Anno Sociatatis LII being 2017 in the Common Era.

The Shire Phoenix Glade is the Fort Walton Beach Chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA), an international organization dedicated to recreating the historical life and combat of pre-17th-century Europe. Our Shire is just a small part of the world wide, non-profit organization known as the SCA. We are located within the "Kingdom of Meridies" (see below for Kingdom details).

The SCA is a group designed for individual participation and is not a spectator activity. It allows members to be as active or inactive as they wish, but unlike Renaissance Fairs, you take part in the activities. We learn about the Middle Ages by attempting to re-create the best aspects of the era, and without the fleas and plagues, and with indoor plumbing.

Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "Royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group.

The Shire of Phoenix Glade welcomes all newcomers, and we encourage interested gentles to check us out. All meetings are open to the public, and we like seeing new faces. If you are new to the SCA, and would like more information on the Society or our Shire, please feel free to contact our Seneschal (Chapter President).

About the Kingdom - The SCA divides the world into Kingdoms; there are twenty(20) kingdoms at this time. Our Kingdom (Meridies) encompasses most of the Southeastern United States: the Florida panhandle, Georgia, Alabama, Middle and East Tennessee and Kentucky, and part of Southwestern Virginia. The name of our kingdom is derived from Latin and means "The Southlands".

We have an upcoming event in August called Daggers and Hemlock. It is the Shires annual event that usually takes place at the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds in Fort Walton Beach. Games, fighting, classes, merchants, and feasting. A time for us to shine and show the rest of the Known World what we can do and how much we have improved from the last event. So join us and have fun.
